Improve the Google Rank of Your Website

Sep, Wed 12th, 2012 Posted in : Google SEO & PageRank By : Simon van Gool 0 Comments

Creating a good website is not enough. Website developers must also make sure that there is a formidable amount of traffic to the websites they have created. The best way to make sure that your website is popular is by making it feature in Google searches. Google search engine uses certain techniques, which are unknown to the public, to display pages in a particular order. The tips given here will help you improve the position or Google rank of your website. More Internet users will click on your website link if it features at the top of a Google search.

Use Keyword Phrases

Instead of using single words as keywords to optimize your website, use keyword phrases. This is an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) trick that improves website rankings to a great extent. People looking for certain things on the internet type in phrases like “website development tutorials” instead of just “website”. Specific keywords phrases will help internet users find your website easily. Look at your website and think of all the keyword phrases that would describe it. Leverage Google AdWords for effective keyword research. Use Google Trends to find keyword phrases that are popular and use appropriate ones in your web pages. Also try to change the keyword phrases for each web page of the website. The website will show up in more searches if you handle one subject within each web page along with unique keyword phrases.

Give Titles to Web-pages

Basic knowledge of HTML is needed to give titles to all your pages. UseHTML tags to give names to all the web pages. Without these tags, the pages will appear as ‘Untitled’ on Google searches and this will put off potential visitors. Almost no-one clicks on untitled links. If possible, use keyword phrases in the title itself. This will make it more prominent during Google searches.

Maintain Appropriate Keyword Density

Page rank increases depending on the number of times the keyword phrase appears in the web page. Insert the keyword in the introduction paragraph of the web page. Don’t force the keywords onto the web page so that it seems unnatural. Also the recent launch of Google Penguin could lower the website rank significantly or even get your website banned if keyword phrases appear too many times in the web page. Create clear website content with the necessary amount of keyword phrases.

Include Links

One reason Google search is so popular and effective is because it searches for pages based on the hyperlinks to and from web sites. Attach hyperlinks to keyword phrases as Google determines the content of pages based on the words present in links. Instead of putting ‘”click here”, use “Get more information on Website development’. To feature links to your website on other sites, exchange text links with them. This will improve the page rank of all the websites involved.

List with Right Directories

Google uses directories to validate websites. Make sure you get your site listed with an open directory project. After you submit your website to a directory, a real person will check the website and then list it on the directory. It’s better to use specialized directories that cater to specific types of websites instead of submitting to all free directories. Google now penalizes websites that are submitted to many directories.

Use Search Engine Friendly Graphics

Avoid using Flash to design your website. Search engines do not look for Flash content. As a result, any content you create using Flash could disappear from searches. Use plain text links instead of or along with Flash content. Accompany all images withtags. This way you can put keyword phrases with images, which in turn is detected easily by Google.
