You will need to download a WordPress theme to create a graphical interface. The right theme or skin is important for the look of your WordPress website. WordPress does install with 2 default themes, but these are plain, and not very corporate or inspirational. To create a website you will also need the services of a web hosting company. Make sure that the web hosting company you have chosen can support PHP and MySQL or Oracle databases. Creating the Website

1. Place a new database – MySQL or other – in the local or remote server. Most importantly, keep in mind or take down the user-name, password, host and database name of the database. Without this you won’t be able to access the database. Expand the zipped source code that you downloaded from WordPress and place it in the folder that will contain your website. Give read and write access to the folder containing the WordPress files. Next, type the website URL in the address bar of the browser, navigate to your website and complete the installation procedure. If the installation is successful, you will be asked to login using an admin password, which will be given to you. With WordPress version 3.0 and above you can choose your own password. As always, make sure you do not forget this password.
2. Change the admin password the first time you login to your new WordPress account. After this, expand the compressed WordPress theme that you purchased earlier and put it in this path- /yoursiteroot/wp-content/themes/newtheme. Activate this theme using the “appearance” section. Then use the “Pages” section and add web pages for your website such as Home, Blog, Contact us, etc. Content can be added later on but ensure that you publish these pages before saving them. Next, choose “Reading” option from the “Setting” section. You can set the home page and blog page from here. It is advisable to select “Static” option for Front page displays. After you are satisfied with the page settings, click on “Save”.
3. If you want to make certain adjustments to the theme that you downloaded, use the HTML/CSS version of the site to do so. With your HTML editor, open the website and navigate to the theme folder. You will find many PHP files, a folder for images and a styles.css file in the theme folder. Make the necessary changes using these PHP and stylesheet files.

Content Duplication

Google is now banning websites that duplicate their own content or copy large pieces of content from other websites. High Keyword Density

Many websites stuff their web content with keywords to improve its Google rank. This is being penalized using the Google Penguin. Use an appropriate number of keyword or keyword phrases in the web page. Also do not use unrelated keywords on your website just to improve its ranking. Try to use different keywords in different web pages. It is also not advisable to use trademarked names and words, which do not belong to you, in your website.

Cloaking

This practice is guaranteed to get your website banned. Cloaking is a method that allows visitors to see completely different content than what Google sees and is used extensively by web developers. Distasteful and harmful content is often hidden this way using page redirects and clever programming. Instead of using cloaking to gain traffic, use the right keywords and website directories to popularize your website.

Stacking of Titles

HTML title tags are used to name the different pages of the website. Although you must name all the pages correctly, do not try to add many titles to one page. This technique may have worked before but not anymore. Google will now improve the rankings of websites that have only one title for each page. Optimize these titles by adding appropriate keywords.

Bad Neighbours

It is important to exchange text links with other websites but Google is now checking the quality of websites that link to your website. Many website developers use paid linking and exchange services to increase the number of links on the internet. These links are often placed on suspicious and spam websites. Also, do not place links to other websites without checking them first. This could seriously affect the rank of your web pages.

Text Hiding

Google algorithm is now finding and lowering the rank of websites that use colors to hide text. Do not hide unnecessary text by keeping the same background and font color. Keyword stuffing is possible by using this method and many websites hide unrelated keywords and links by matching the font and background color. Also maintain the correct font size. This will improve the page rank of all the websites involved.

List with Right Directories

Google uses directories to validate websites. Make sure you get your site listed with an open directory project. After you submit your website to a directory, a real person will check the website and then list it on the directory. Google now penalizes websites that are submitted to many directories.

Use Search Engine Friendly Graphics
